There's a spiritual world beyond the one we know. Past the spiritual world we see. Beyond the world we listen to. Beyond the physical planet where we reside.
For 1000's of years we were in touch with this particular other spiritual dimension. The planet where trees spoke their wisdom. We could listen to the gentle voices within the wind. The river spoke to us in subtle tones. Birds would deliver us messages through their song. There's a whole world beyond the one which we know.
In this world there was no separation. For separation did not exist. Connection was all there was. No boundary between where you ended. And no boundary in between where nature started.
Within this other dimension we had the sense of melting. Melting with nature. For we were everything. At the same time. You had been the lizard being aware of it is heart quicken against the rock in the sun. You were the eagle sensing the air push against it's feathers as it circled on the thermal. And you were the fish feeling the h2o flow along it is gills in the ocean. No separation.
But today we often feel that big sense of separation. We no longer feel we are part of every thing. Perhaps we really feel we are like a separate drop of h2o floating inside the ocean. A drop residing beside other drops of h2o. Rather than feeling we're the vastness of the entire ocean.
This feeling of separation is not our natural state. It's been learnt. Youthful children don't really feel separate. Look deep in to the eyes of an infant and you will see the connection. They know. Every moment they are part of this connection. The oneness with all beings. No separation between themselves and other.
For this really is our natural state.
I have dipped in and from this state numerous occasions. Consciously it first occurred when I was 20 years old. At one stage on my year long 'rite of passage' I spent two weeks alone beside the ocean within a remote nationwide park. One early morning whilst walking along a deserted seaside I bent down and picked up some moist sand. I spent a number of minutes taking a look at all of the little grains on my finger tip. The different designs. The different colours. The various textures. Every grain of sand totally distinct from the others. Every grain a person.
Then I felt the urge to look up at the seaside and that is when it occurred. I got to see the whole beach was made up of these separate grains of sand. But the individual grains of sand made up the whole seaside.
In that minute my consciousness expanded. All of a sudden I grew to become a lizard I noticed laying beside a bush with the sensation of my metabolism quicken within the sun and my scales rub against each other as I moved. Simultaneously I was also a sea-eagle over the ocean sensing the wind push next to my wings and having the ability to peer down with my telescope eyes. And I was also a fish being pushed up and down past the breakers feeling the water surge along my gills and feeling the sense of weightlessness as I swam with the h2o.
