Do you usually get home empty handed after wasting your entire day shoe shopping? It is amazing just how challenging it can be to find shoes you are satisfied with. I used to really struggle with shoe shopping. I was usually extremely indecisive about the shoes I wanted to buy. Well, here are several helpful tips to make shoe shopping a little easier next time around.
Comfort is Essential
First and foremost, be sure the shoes are comfortable. I can't tell you how many pairs of shoes several of my friends have that they never wear. Sure they look amazing in the store, but once you try to walk in them for more than five minutes you are in agonizing pain. If any of you were fans of the Tv series Friends, then you remember when Monica bought that $600 pair of boots. She wore them once and was in so much agonizing pain that she never wore them again. Sadly many of us can relate to her. It's painful on both the feet and the purse.
A person's Footwear Should Be Versatile
Make an effort to buy shoes which are versatile and can be worn with multiple outfits. It's going to get very expensive if you buy one pair of shoes for each outfit you have in your wardrobe. Dark colored shoes, especially black, brown, or gray, could be worn with many different colors. Also think about the style of your shoes. A knee high leather boot is certainly less versatile than a pair of heeled sandals.
Buying shoes that can be worn with several outfits becomes even more important as the price of the shoes rises. If you are spending $30 on a pair of sandals, then it's not that big of a deal. However, if you are buying a $200 pair of high heels, then you need to make sure you'll get some use out of them. Otherwise your money would be better spent elsewhere.
Stick to shoes which have longevity. Fashion trends are continuously changing. Often a super trendy item today will be a "what were we thinking" item tomorrow. Just look at the 1980s. Stick to the tried and true styles. Otherwise you'll be experiencing the same consequences that all the people who stocked up on bell bottoms had to deal with. Stylish is good. Fads are not.
