Garmin Nuvi continues to redefine the GPS market each year but not most people are willing to keep upgrading their devices as soon as newer versions come out. Midrange and high-end GPS devices exceed the $200 mark and if you are seeking to spend that much for any GPS, it would be nice to find something that you can rely on for several years. Newer devices will be released plus they often bring new features but if you purchase something with great lasting features like the Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT, you might not be concerned much about newer devices.
Design
One of the things that makes the Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT future-proof is the 5-inch touch screen display. It doesn't seem like GPS devices can get any bigger than this any time soon. You get the benefits of seeing more of the map particularly if you are zoomed out. The anti-glare display implies that you can clearly see the graphics evenly.
Features and gratifaction
First-time users shouldn't have any problems getting acquainted with the user interface. You are given the "Where to" and "View Map" icons which you can touch to be able to plan a fast destination or see the map so you can perform other operations. While using map view lets you plan up to 10 routes, that is good for planning a long vacation. The breadcrumb trail feature that plants up to 10,000 points to cover your tracks helps to ensure that you will not get lost and you will avoid accidental retracing. Even if you are not centered on the screen, you can rely on the text-to-speech features to call out street names whenever you need to make a turn. You won't need to bother about accuracy either since the HotFix satellite prediction handles concerns by assuming the location of the satellites according to their movements.
Going through the highway routes can present some concerns even though you know your course. Many exits need you to maintain the right lane before you can take them and also the Lane Help with Junction View feature lets you know in advance which means you will never miss your planned route.
All the preloaded maps that cover The united states are beautifully detailed with an incredible number of points of interests. You can also pay $9.99 to have an optional feature called cityXplorer which is useful when you are in cities that you have never been to. This feature gives you some key areas that offer transportation and serves as a good travel guide.
But even without subscription fees, you can still perform a lot of things and also hardwearing . device up to the times. The lifetime map updates allow you to keep your maps updated with new locations. You may also get the latest traffic conditions to help you plan more effective routes.
The Garmin Nuvi 1450LMT costs around $180 which is about $20 less than the 1490LMT which adds Bluetooth towards the mix. Bluetooth is a nice feature but if you don't have a Bluetooth device, you may enjoy the savings and still have a nice performing GPS unit that you can depend on for the next couple of years.
