Frankfurt is the capital of the state of Hessen located in the center of Germany. It's well known for it skyscrapers, international airport and as the financial heart of The european union. Getting around is easy because of its cutting-edge not to mention reliable public transportation system. In Frankfurt there are various exciting sites to go to such as many museums, art galleries, concert halls not to mention historic architectural structures.

Frankfurt am Main has got tons to choose from in relation to entertainment and also culture. These destinations are definitely worth viewing:

The Goethehaus is the home where Goethe came into this world on 28th August 1749. When visiting the place you may get an impression how families lived in the late baroque period. It was subsequently wholly ruined during the Second World War but it has been restored to its original condition around 1946 and 1951. The majority of the items that are on exhibit didn't belong to the Goethe family, but they belong to the same period. It is also worth going to the adjoining Goethe Museum, which had been renovated and contains both a library and a bookshop.

The Paulskirche became popular as an important meeting place. Developed to replace the Barfüßerkirche (Church of the Barefooted), it was eventually opened in 1833, the actual building work started in 1789. The first freely-elected German parliament sat there in 1848. Damaged in an air-raid in 1944, this church was rebuilt in 1947/48 to be a memorial to the horrors of warfare. The simple hall these days offers a location with regard to very important events like the annual German Peace Prize ceremony and the City of Frankfurt's Goethepreis honours. Both are known for civil rights.

The Henninger Turm. This white, 120 metre-high silo was made in 1961 by the Henninger brewery in order to store barley. As such, it's the highest brewery throughout Germany. 761 steps lead up to the viewing platform that provides fine views of the metropolis as well as adjacent countryside. A restaurant is found in the tower and a tiny museum about the history of beer making. The Henninger Turm is well-known for the yearly cycling event in May, the name of this particular contest is Rund um den Henninger Turm and the top cyclists get involved.

The Old Opera House (Alte Oper) still looks as magnificent and imposing as it did in 1880, when it was inaugurated in the presence of Emperor Wilhelm I. This building was funded by affluent Frankfurt inhabitants and is built in Italian Renaissance style by Richard Lucae. It was utterly damaged in an air raid in 1944. It was eventually rebuilt between 1964 and 1981, and ended up being renamed 'Old Opera Concert and Conference Centre'. The restoring of the opera house was once more financed with the help of residents of Frankfurt. The main hall has got seats for around 2,500 people. This is the central area of the building and is utilized for concerts, seminars or smaller gatherings. There's also other areas, these rooms enable a number of functions to take place simultaneously.

Main Tower is one of Frankfurt's most famous buildings. It is 200 meters high. You can visit the Main Tower's spectacular observation platform, from where visitors are offered a thrilling bird's eye view of Frankfurt. It is the very first bank skyscraper to open its doors to the citizens of Frankfurt in addition to visitors to the city.
