There are some places on earth that are indisputably awe inspiring, breathtaking and wonderfully unique. One such place has to be the group of islands off the coast of Queensland in Australia, home to the Great Barrier Reef. The rich marine life and delightful discoveries both on the water and under it have to be experienced to be believed.

There is a real sense of adventure found in this stunning maritime landscape and exhilarating coastal region. Hiring a thrilling bareboat charter for the day means you and your family, or group of friends, can explore the islands alone in your yacht, sailing or power catamaran. And although experienced sailors can charter and skipper their own yacht there are plenty of daytrips and longer, overnight journeys over the ocean, with manned crews. A group might prefer to take a skipper with them so they can really soak up their surroundings.

The deep blue ocean has a wide choice for every type of activity. It is the ultimate maritime playground, in one of the most stunning parts of the world. As well as the many islands, such as the renowned Hamilton Island and Cook Island, when it comes to beautiful beaches on The Whitsundays there is a great variety. Whitehaven Beach is one of the more popular with its long white sands and Chalkie Beach is popular for its snorkelling. Sailing holiday-makers can stop off for a picnic or an overnight stay or lounge on the soft sands. Snorkelling and diving entices many curious people here who want to jump ship and dive down into the colourful and interesting underwater world. The Pinnacles is a renowned diving and snorkelling spot which offers depth as well as some shallow areas with hard coral for both pursuits.

On Hayman Island Blue Pearl Bay has lots of multi-coloured tropical fish. There is no doubt about it that getting out on the water, or indeed under it, can really make you feel like you are alive and experiencing the spirit of exploration, discovery and adventure. When people dive into such landscapes they also learn to appreciate the delicate nature of their environment and it is by experiencing The Great Barrier Reef areas that people are perhaps more likely to want to protect and preserve it for future generations to enjoy and cherish. There is something humbling about being surrounded, and part of, such a one-of-a-kind world.
