When going on a trip it can be very difficult to leave the furry four-legged members of your household behind. After all, they really are members of the family. However, if you consider planning a trip to New York City, consider choosing one of the many pet-friendly hotels the city has to offer.
Special Hotel Amenities for Pets
There are several pet friendly hotels in NYC. In addition to allowing you to bring your pet along, some hotels even offer special services and amenities for your pet including spas and pet-sitting, so you can get out and enjoy all that New York City has to offer knowing your pet is in great hands playing and being pampered back at the hotel. For dog owners who are researching pet friendly hotels in NYC, be sure to check out hotels in the Central Park area. New York is a dog-friendly city, and choosing to stay in a Central Park hotel will be an experience that your whole family, including your dog, will love. You and your dog can enjoy walking and exploring the trails and all 23 dog-friendly areas in the park.
There are some things to keep in mind when traveling with your pet. Before heading out on your trip, make an appointment for your pet to see its veterinarian. Make sure all shots and vaccinations are up to date, and get copies of your pets medical records and health certificate to bring along just in case. Similarly, make sure all of your pets tags are current. If your pet has travel anxiety, your vet may prescribe anti-anxiety medications to help keep your pet calm during the trip. Also ask your vet for any other tips he may have on ways to keep your pet comfortable and happy.
Pack Accordingly
When packing for your trip to NYC, make sure you have your pets food, bowls, crate bed, blanket, waste bags, medications, medical records, health certificate, and of course, his leash. Make a list of what and be sure to double-check the list before you head out. Be sure your pet has everything he needs for a happy, healthy trip to New York City.
