Australia is renowned for its stunning scenery, beautiful climate as well as rich and diverse marine life. For all the beauty of the mainland it is the coastal regions, beaches and adventure on and under the ocean which draws tourists from all over the country, as well as from countries all over the world.
As people travel more and more, certain locations stand out as being 'must-see' destinations. Australia has always been popular with visitors from Europe, the USA as well as Asia. Queensland is a particular favourite region, with the Whitsundays being a wonderful tropical island group.This is a holiday hotspot for many native Australians as well. The appeal is obvious. On the shore there are gorgeous beaches such as Airlie Beach, with white sands, perfect for lounging and whiling away the hours. For those who like to immerse themselves in the countryside the area also has many national parks with lush forests, camping and treks into the greenery. There are also the reefs which attract scuba diving and snorkelling. A big pull to this part of Queensland is also the boating which allows for vacationers to island hop and take off for a real maritime adventure.
Having seaside breaks where there is so much to do means that you can have the best of all worlds. How many times do you hear people saying that they loved the beach on holiday but could have done with some more activities? Or how many times do people find they are staying somewhere which is action packed but is either not particularly attractive, or does not offer enough places to kick back and completely chill-out. With different family members, all wanting to be happy on holiday, coastal areas such as the Whitsundays seem to be able to cater to all tastes. Even when it comes to holidaying twosomes, the backpacker is going to find somewhere to stay just as easily as a romantic, honeymooning couple wanting some beachside luxury.
People do travel more these day, but the summer holiday is still a big deal and nobody wants to risk venturing out to a destination that might prove less inspiring than popular places such as Hamilton Island. They might want to charter their own boat and sail out into the big blue ocean but they do not want the adventure to be making the best of a less than perfect vacation experience.
